I am proud of my heritage as my father, Richard Wheeler, was in the ceramics manufacturing and sales industry too. At one time, he was on the Board of Directors at the TCNA. He started his career in Southern California – at Interpace Tile Inc. Some of their most famous projects include the Los Angeles International Airport, as well as the “rainbow” adorning the Honolulu Hilton. He moved the family east in 1971 and became the first president, and after that – owner of K.F. Brick in South Windsor.

I started working with tile in 1984 when I worked for Prescott Builders in Simsbury Ct. The company maintained several apartment buildings in Hartford. I was given repair jobs that the others did not want to do. While deconstructing the unsuccessful installations of others, I learned how NOT to install tile, how to prevent failures in my own installations, and find solutions to common problems. Two years later, I started my own company – Bathroom Tile Repairs LLC, now known as BTR Tile and Stone LLC.
